Got my new o2 joggler today after they went on sale for an absolute steal.

It’s basically a touchscreen 7″ tablet device capable of showing photos and video, and playing music both from it’s own 1gb storage, a USB drive or from a PC via its built in wifi.

As well as media, it also supports rss style applications such as Sky News, Sport, Weather, Traffic Master, some flash based games and a very nice Internet Radio app from Pure that has all the BBC stations and a good range of commerial stations too.

You can also download free apps from the built in AppStore – downloads include YouTube, Google Maps and Google Calendar.

When the device isn’t in use you can either have a clock display or a slideshow of pictures.

I’ve tried to stream mp3s and a couple of different video files from my PC and all have worked fine with no setup required (it found the media automatically on my wireless network). The sound is decent from the built in speakers.

You’re probably wondering where the o2 bit comes in? Well, the joggler can also send and receive text messages – you get 50 free every month and the device has it’s own mobile number (although texts are delivered via the web connection rather that it having a sim card)

The AppStore is very limited at the moment, but it is possible with little effort to telnet to the joggler and upload other apps from the web (Twitter, facebook etc)

It’s no iPad, but for the current price of £49 it’s a bargain. You would probably pay more for a standalone digital photo frame without the bells and whistles of the joggler.
